| Course Description |
This course is an in-depth study of the Air and Fuel Systems for both Heavy Duty and Medium Duty Caterpillar engines. A strong emphasis will be placed on system diagnostics. |
| Course Objective |
After completion, the participant will be able to:
• Measure and evaluate inlet and exhaust manifold pressures and temperatures
• Perform diagnostics procedures on Turbo’s, and Wastegates
• Evaluate horsepower and fuel rates
• Troubleshoot Low Power and Performance complaints
• Evaluate Poor fuel economy complaints
• Locate and explain the proper operation and troubleshooting procedures for Caterpillar lubrication and Cooling System components.
• Measure and evaluate temperatures and pressures in the Lubrication and Cooling systems for diagnostic purposes.
• Calculate Oil consumption data for analysis
• Explain Caterpillars maintenance recommendations. |
| Course Prerequisites |
Students attending this class are required to have completed either Heavy Duty Fuel Systems and Heavy Duty Electronic Engines or C7 C9 Fuel Systems and Electronics. |
