Course Description This course is an in-depth study of the Air and Fuel Systems for both Heavy Duty and Medium Duty Caterpillar engines. A strong emphasis will be placed on system diagnostics.
Course Objective After completion, the participant will be able to: • Measure and evaluate inlet and exhaust manifold pressures and temperatures • Perform diagnostics procedures on Turbo’s, and Wastegates • Evaluate horsepower and fuel rates • Troubleshoot Low Power and Performance complaints • Evaluate Poor fuel economy complaints • Locate and explain the proper operation and troubleshooting procedures for Caterpillar lubrication and Cooling System components. • Measure and evaluate temperatures and pressures in the Lubrication and Cooling systems for diagnostic purposes. • Calculate Oil consumption data for analysis • Explain Caterpillars maintenance recommendations.
Course Prerequisites Students attending this class are required to have completed either Heavy Duty Fuel Systems and Heavy Duty Electronic Engines or C7 C9 Fuel Systems and Electronics.
